NATIONAL VOCATIONAL/TECHNICAL HONOR SOCIETY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates eligible for active membership in this society will be limited to outstanding sophomore, junior and senior vocational students. Individuals will be removed from membership if they cease to maintain scholarship requirements and/or cease to be enrolled in a vocational class. The requirements are as follows:

Nominees from the sophomore and junior class must have an overall 3.0 grade point average, two credits in vocational courses, and be presently enrolled in a vocational class. Nominees from the senior class must have an overall 2.75 grade point average, two credits in vocational courses, and be presently enrolled in a vocational class. All nominees must maintain a B average in their vocational courses. No nominee will be elected who has failed any part of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam.

Candidates for the National Vocational/Technical Honor Society must be students who have good character, creditable achievement, exhibit leadership, and who plan to pursue a career in their field of vocational-technical study. All candidates for membership in this society must be approved by the local school administrator. In order to maintain membership, a student must continue to be enrolled in a vocational course.

Students must have no suspensions from school the year that they are tapped. After that year, if a student commits a Class II offense, s/he will be placed on probation for a period of 18 weeks beginning immediately. If the student commits another Class II offense, s/he will be removed from the National Vocational/Technical Honor Society. If a student commits a Class III offense, s/he will be removed immediately from the National Vocational/Technical Honor Society.
