The Exceptional Education Curricula provides support services to students with disabilities in both the general education and exceptional education environs. While all diploma options available to the general education population are also available to exceptional education students, the adoption of the Alabama Occupational Diploma became a milestone in exceptional education and has significantly changed service delivery options.

The Alabama Occupational Diploma option is designed primarily for students with mild to moderate disabilities as defined by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (Public Law 105-17), who, in the opinion of the IEP Team, are appropriate candidates. This option will provide for meaningful inclusion of students with disabilities in the community and the workplace, thereby achieving increased independence, citizenship, and post-school employment. The Alabama Occupational Diploma offers an exit avenue that will prepare students with disabilities for a productive and contributing adulthood.

Courses exclusive to the Alabama Occupational Diploma include Job Skills Math, Employment English, Life Skills Science, and Career Preparation.
